debbie & drew: engagement

“how sweet it is to be loved by you”

The whole week (and most of 2008) had been a lil’ dreary in Southern California, but the weather was absolutely gorgeous for Debbie & Drew’s engagement shoot last Sunday. Laguna Beach was packed with volleyball players, strollers, adorable puppies and anyone who had been missing the California sun these past few months. Debbie & Drew came running from the crowd – Debbie with her glamorous purple blouse and Drew with his usual cool demeanor. Like the nice people they are, Debbie & Drew apologized incessantly for being late. Like the nice person I am =), I was not upset at all as I got to enjoy some extra minutes basking in the sun. Debbie & Drew are so incredibly sweet and their love is even sweeter. They met in the Peace Corps and have been inseparable ever since. With their love of nature and gentle spirits, it was only fitting that we shot our engagement session at beautiful Laguna and local wilderness area. Just a few of the images from our fun-in-the-sun:

Debbie & Drew have 2 golden retrievers and a man passing by was nice enough to let us borrow his cutie for this pic:

“sweetest thing”

To my delight (and surprise), I received a beautiful bouquet of long stem roses from the bf yesterday. I know to some people it’s sooo “typical”, but I LOVE receiving flowers (*hint hint*) and not just on Valentine’s day (*double hint hint*) =). I think flowers are so pretty and such a simple way to brighten up someone’s day. They also make for a pretty picture – don’t cha think???

“just can’t get enough”

Valentine’s Day is my second most favorite holiday (after Christmas!!!). I just love how everything is sooo cute and pink this time of the year. I can spend hours at that $1 aisle at Target – you know where they sell cheap seasonal stuff?! I loooove it! Oh and of course I love sharing the day with the bf. He makes everyday better =). Here’s us from Valentine’s last year:

valentine

Soooo you’re prolly wondering why I constantly refer to him as “the bf”. It’s my lil’ homage to the-must-watch-over-and-over Sex in the City. I contemplated calling him “Mr. Big” but I didn’t want to give him a bigger head than he already has =P. Sex in the City is my favorite television series of all time – it’s just so funny and relatable. I stay up just to watch the reruns at night on KTLA – even though I’ve seen the same episode a hundred times. I can’t wait for the movie to come out in May!!!

“new year’s day”

If you follow the lunar calendar, then you like myself are ringing in the NEW YEAR today!!! It is the Year of the Rat or as I would like to call it “Year of the Mouse” (much cuter – don’t cha think???).

The Rat was welcomed in ancient times as a protector and bringer of material prosperity. I sure hope the rat does the same for us this year! Rats are most compatible with monkeys – that’s me =). You can find your Chinese zodiac sign and read about it here.

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

“kiss kiss”

Let me start off by saying Vanessa & Anthony are two of the best models I’ve ever had! They are so comfortable in front of the camera and with each other. Not a moment went by during the shoot that they were not kissing, hugging or just being plain silly! =) Even the historic Union Station and the vibrant Olvera Street paled in comparison to their playful spirits and dynamic love. Witnessing their undeniable connection, you would never have guessed that they met only a year ago. It’s couples like them that remind me of how wonderful my job is and how unique every love story is.

**Vanessa & Anthony – Thank you for letting me document your love on camera. I can’t wait for your April wedding!!! Judging by how much fun we had at our e-session, I’m sure the wedding will also be a blast!

***On a side note, I must give extra props to Anthony. Normally when I shoot engagement sessions, the guy is the shy one of the couple – standing there trying to be cool and waiting for me to tell him what to do…lol. Well, that was certainly not the case with Anthony! He provided a lot of input in the shoot and took ownership of every pose. In other words, he worked it =) (And as you can tell by the photographs, Vanessa is quite the model herself!) So Anthony – I’m expecting big things from you at your wedding! And I hope to see the “dip” one more time! =)

Just a few of the lovely images – there were so many good ones that I really couldn’t decide which ones to preview! To see more, check out Vanessa & Anthony’s SLIDESHOW by clicking HERE!

Here’s the beautiful couple:

Starting out with some history at the landmark Union Station. The station had such a great “old movie” vibe to it. I loved shooting here!

The Union Station had such unique walls to use as backdrops. This is one of my favorites of the day:

We were a lil’ rebellious on our shoot and snuck into this “no trepassing” area. Judging by the shot – I’m so glad we did!

These two were not distracted from each other by anything, even in a grand place like Union Station:

Nothing could stop Anthony from his trademark dip – not even a moving train!

Check out Vanessa’s cute shoes!!!

Oh the romance…

And laughter!

Back to the romance:

Started to get a lil’ too steamy for me! =P

So I made them take a break with some jumping action! Not bad – although I think my Jordan picture shows more hops =). But, how cute are these two???? Check out Anthony in the first pic! Hahhah…

Ok now it’s time to rest:

no mo’ twitters

“something to talk about”

Ok, so I gave that Twitter thing a try and seriously – it was waaayyy to much for me. I still think it’s a neat idea, but just not for me. I’m usually pretty good about updating my blog and checking my emails, but disclosing my antics on an up-to-the-minute basis is a lil’ bit much. Not to mention, my life isn’t quite that eventful on a regular basis. I found myself “twitting” things like “eating breakfast” or “time for tacos!” – it seemed to somehow always relate to food, which is a big part of my life! =) Anyhow, so that cute lil’ brown box is now gone and has been replaced by the uber cute new pink box!!! Oh yeah! It’s called a Cbox which is short for chatbox. I must admit I have been feeling a lil’ neglected in the comment department (*shedding tear*) so I thought I’d add the chatbox to my page to encourage you to leave me messages! It’s pretty easy (and so are leaving comments!!!) so let the chatting begin! =)

“almost doesn’t count”

Last Monday – I was thrilled by the great news of NKOTB’s return. This Monday, I am saddened by the New England’s Patriots unbelievable loss yesterday to the New York Giants in the Superbowl.

Tom – I am here if you need me.
