“get like me”

I know you’ve been waiting for it….

  • Judging by last weekend’s weather, I take back last week’s kim le’s korner comment where I said it doesn’t feel like summer yet. Summer is definitely here.
  • I still can’t believe the Lakers lost so miserably in the NBA finals. I’m way more sad than I was when the Patriots lost the Superbowl. It didn’t help that the Celtics celebrated the entire second half of the game. I guess there’s always next year… *Sigh*
  • If you are behind on your TIVO – this is a SPOILER ALERT! Delirious Deanna kicked off gorgeous Graham this week on “ The Bachelorette“. This was my reaction when watching: “NOOOOOOOOO!!!!! WHY?????!!!”
  • Songs-I-use-to-like-but-if-I-hear-one-more-time-I’m-going-to-scream: “No Air” by Jordan Sparks, “Superstar” by Lupe Fiasco, “Bleeding Love” by Leona Lewis and “Sexy Can I” by Ray J. aka Brandy’s Brother – remember “The Boy is Mine” by Brandy & Monica??? I loved that song! And remember when Kobe took Brandy to his prom??? Yeah I know…I love taking trips down memory lane.
  • I can’t wait until 8-8-08. Just seems like it’s gonna be one heck of a day. Unfortunately it will be 4 days after I turn the big 2-8.
  • I’m super excited about an engagement session I have planned for Sunday! Pics to follow next week!!!
  • I’m still recovering but I already made plans to travel out-of-town this weekend for my dear girlfriend’s birthday. Wish me luck!

“better together”

I must apologize for being so late in my posts. I have been traveling a lot and got really sick last week so I have tons of catching up to do.

Last month I had the great pleasure of shooting the wedding of two very special people. Debbie & Drew are two of the most genuine people you will ever meet. Their love story is so sweet and their intimate wedding on May 25, 2008 at the Four Seasons Aviara was just as sweet. I have been quite anxious to write this blog post as I really wanted to share their lovely story. But, then I realized nothing I wrote would compare to the incredible words they wrote for their guests. Debbie & Drew met in the Peace Corps and traveled to various places together. They used this as the theme for their wedding and at each table, they had printed stories in that were written in each of their own words describing how they felt on the journey they shared together at these unique places. With Debbie & Drew’s permission, I would like to share one of the beautiful stories Drew wrote of their time in Paraguay:

“I wasn’t really sure what to think of this situation. I had really just started to get to know her the day before. And I don’t know why I had suddenly become so intrigued, so engrossed with getting to know this girl. I didn’t really know anything about her other than her being from LA and that we were both in San Pedro, Paraguay and both Peace Corps volunteers. But we sat on the grass in the backyard of a friend’s house, watching the stars cross the southern hemisphere’s night sky. Nowhere had I ever seen stars so clear or brilliant. That night was one of those moments in life that is very surreal and rare; when the serenity of the moment and the connection to a stranger is stronger than anyone or anything else. She told me stories of her family and friends, of her home in LA and her life at Penn and in New York that put images as clear as day into my mind. We talked about altruism, the pursuit of happiness and having an impact that made a difference. We told stories of our adventures in remote wildernesses and most magical moments in our lives. But the strangest part seemed that I had come so far home, and sat here now a world away from everything I knew, falling in love with a girl that I had just met.”

* Debbie & Drew – Your life and love are inspirations to us all. Thanks for making this world a better place. I am sad you’re moving! xoxo, Kim Le

** Special thanks to my super 2nd shooter: John and the amazing day-of-coordinator: Taryn of Taryn Leach Events. Be sure to check out their blogs!

Ok, I’ve kept everyone waiting so here are some teasers followed by a fabulous slideshow! =)

“viva la vida”

After a super busy weekend in Vegas (good times =)), I have another super busy week ahead of me, so bare with me on some delayed posts. I didn’t want to fall behind on this already, so here’s this week’s edition of “Kim Le’s Korner“. More of kim le’s kookiness to come next week!

  • I just paid $4.90 for a gallon of gas today. Forgive me if I never leave the house again.
  • Does anyone else feel like they are experiencing an emotional roller coasting when watching the Lakers in the NBA finals??? But, I still believe – Lakers in 7!!!!
  • I’m worried. I didn’t get carded at the blackjack table in Vegas this past weekend. Am I finally starting to look my age?!!
  • I’m addicted to the new drink from Starbucks – the Starbucks double shot over ice. As if I need another reason to stay up late!
  • It still doesn’t feel like summer to me. I don’t know why.
  • I’m the worst text messager ever. It takes me 5 minutes to make an abbreviated sentence like this: “so how r u?”. Drivers beware.
  • I lost my food cravings! I haven’t been in the mood for anything lately! And that’s crazy because I love food! I made spaghetti last week and it lasted me for 6 meals.
  • Happy belated Father’s Day to everyone! I miss you dad.

“never happened”

So I’m off to Vegas for my friend’s bachelorette party. I would bring my trusty camera, but you know how the saying goes: “what happens in vegas….” =) Unfortunately, I won’t be able to return any emails until Monday. Have a great weekend!!!

“read my mind”

Drumroll please!!! I’m starting this new thing on my blog called “Kim Le’s Korner“. The name has cheese melted all over it, but you know you love it =). So basically “Kim Le’s Korner” will be personal antedotes, random rants, girly gossip, and any other lil’ tidbits floating around in my head. I may be lil’, but I do have a lotta of thoughts! Or maybe I just have a lot to say and no one else to talk to =(. Just a lil’ warning – I’m not trying to be the next Perez Hilton or anything, but I do love me some celebrity gossip.

Anyhoo, Kim Le’s Korner will be served on a weekly basis so you betta stay tuned! Here is this week’s edition:

  • Favorite songs right now: “Forever” by Chris Brown, “Say” by John Mayer and “Viva la Vida” by Coldplay.
  • I can’t believe we are halfway through 2008 already. Remember when it was just Y2K???
  • 90210 is returning to TV. I was talking to young twentysomething girls last week who never even heard of 90210. Boy do I feel old.
  • I ate at this delicious and edgy restaurant called “ Craft” last week in Century City. (1) The head chef is Tom Colicchio from Top Chef. (2) They had yummy donuts for dessert. (3) I was scared of the rabbit tortellini appetizer.
  • I found my food twin. My friend Hanh does not eat ketchup either. She’s great.
  • My sister and I got NKOTB tickets last week for the October concert. No one else seemed excited when I told them except my sister. Weird.
  • I shamefully admit I’m excited to watch “ The Bachelorette” tonight. Maybe it has to do with Graham’s abs.
  • If you haven’t figured it out, all of my blog sub-titles are names of songs. This one was soooo appropriate!
  • My roommate’s 14 year old cousin told me where to buy the “shutter shades” for the Kanye concert. Boy do I feel old part 2.

“touch the sky”

On the Saturday, the bf and I experienced the incomparable “ Glow in the Dark Tour” at the Staples Center.  The tour was put on by the supastars of Lupe Fiasco, N.E.R.D, Rihanna and Kanye West. Armed with my “ shutter shades“, I was ready to be amazed and that I was! Rihanna did her thang, but I was really hoping Chris Breezy would make an appearance. Kanye’s set was incredible – he had every special effect in the book!!! And I just love the intensity and passion he performs with. He even gave out inspirational books to all of the concert patrons at the end of his show!

For those of you who don’t know, these are “shutter shades” and yes you can actually see with them on! =)

On a side note, my Lakers lost again yesterday, but I am keeping the faith. I think I’m gonna wear my yellow “shutter shades” tomorrow in support.

“lets get it started”

I was so excited when Claudia & Chris hired me to take getting ready photos for them on their wedding day. Getting ready photos are my favorite set of wedding day photos and I recommend it to every couple! I just love how intimate these sessions are and capturing all of the anticipation and excitement leading up to the “big moment”.

Special thanks to Kerrie of Platinum Weddings by Kerrie who showed up during the getting ready time to not only helped the bride with anything she needed but also helped set up details for me to get some fabulous shots. A great wedding coordinator like Kerrie is a must for the wedding day!

I spent some time with both the bride & groom, who had very different styles of how to get ready for grand event. We started off with some real male bonding at V’s Barbershop where the guys were “pampered” with a clean shave and all the trimmings. Apparently “it’s a guy thing”.

Here’s the groom…looking a lil’ nervous…must be nervous for the shave or the camera =P

I just love how V’s Barbershop brings back the nostalgic feeling of a traditional barbershop. Check out the checkered floors!

Ok enough of the guys – time for the ladies! I went over to Claudia’s house where it was definitely more dainty =). Here’s a peek at Claudia’s gorgeous gown:

I just love this candid shot of Claudia. It was mid hair-styling and we were laughing at how we use to wear our hair like this in junior high!

“the great escape”

Here are some not so subtle hints on where the bf and I went for his birthday last weekend. And yes he was very surprised! Any guesses??? =)
