miss bright eyes: boudoir

“in her eyes”
I apologize for posting so many boudoir sessions lately, but something tells me most of you don’t mind :) . You can never have too much of a good thing :) . I am happy to have been busy lately with all of these awesome boudoir sessions. Being the girly girl that I am, boudoir sessions are always so much fun for me. I love getting to know the client I am working with and capturing their beauty in my photographs. Miss Bright Eyes here is certainly no exception:

“i’m too sexy”

I just finished a long & fulfilling weekend in Sacramento shooting My & James lovely wedding. I can’t wait to share their pics, but first I wanted to update you all with the big news of last week: I got braces ya’ll!!! No, not Invisalign or clear ones, straight pedal to the metal. So yes, I now look like a 12 year old wedding photographer/prodigy. People will be wondering how that lil’ girl takes such amazing photos! :) I’ve never been entirely unhappy with my teeth, but I think there’s always room for self-improvement. My family could not afford braces growing up and I told myself I would get them once I started making my own money. After putting it off for years, I finally gave in and decided if I can swim now (or at least attempt to), I can do anything – right?! I must admit – the first few days were torture! I couldn’t eat anything and the idea of not drinking a coke or gnawing on a nice piece of rib-eye really got the best of me. And whenever I talked to people, I swore they were staring right at my braces. But, after a week, I feel more positive with the experience and am excited to get my orange & black rubber bands for Halloween :) . Ok maybe not…maybe I’ll just hide my mouth behind my camera for the next 12 months.

So here’s the worldwide web unveiling of my braces with a photo I took Saturday night with a friend of mine/guest at My & James wedding. Sorry folks, there is no zooming in on the mouth here. You will just have to schedule an appointment/shoot with me to see it live in person :) . And let me add this is how I look after 13 hours of shooting and most of it in 100 degree weather!

“the climb”

Happy Friday everyone!!!!! I will be traveling to Sacramento this weekend for My & James wonderful wedding! I’m so excited not only for their wedding, but it will be my first time there! Maybe I will even see the Governator up there! I will return on manic Monday and kindly respond to any messages.

This is a picture I took on a recent flight to Vegas. The picture is out of focus (as I was getting ushered off the runway), but there’s just something I love about it. Or maybe I just love Vegas.

“when your eyes say it”

I got the opportunity to shoot headshots for the lovely Miss Robyn earlier this month and I could not get enough of her beautiful blue eyes. Robyn wanted these photos just for herself and I would recommend that everyone should do this at least once in their life…especially with kim le photography…. I know, shameless plug :) With eyes likes these, I’m confident Robyn can do anything she puts her eyes or mind to!

“obsessed”

Miss Pink Satin wanted to remain anonymous, which I may add is perfectly fine with me. I’m glad we got some photos in without her face so because I was obsessed with her super cute pink satin corset and super sexy heels and wanted to show them off. Without divulging too much, I’ll just let the photos speak for themselves.

“two become one”

A few weeks ago, I decided to try something that I have been saying I needed to do: learn how to SWIM. Yes after seeing my countless photos of vacationing on the sands of Bahamas, Cancun and Miami, it’s hard to believe that this little Asian girl has almost drowned in a foot of ocean water. And that’s a true story – just ask my friends. So finaaaaally, I decided it was time for me to channel my inner Nemo and become one with the water. Simple enough? Not quite – just ask my swimming instructor/roommate. During our first session, I clung onto her like a baby getting her first bath. It was hard for her to convince me to even put my face in the water. But, slowly over a few sessions, I became more comfortable with the water and began to think maybe I can really do this. I can’t quite do a Michael Phelp’s impression just yet, but I am learning and conquering my fears. I am learning that it’s never too late in life to try something new, step outside of your boundaries and really find yourself. So the next time you may be scared to do something, just imagine a little Asian girl drowning in a foot of water and maybe it won’t convince you to do it, but it will definitely give you a nice chuckle.

Did you really think I’d post a picture of me struggling for dear life?!

lidia & antonio: wedding

September 16, 2009

“music of my heart”

Lidia & Antonio were married on September 5, 2009 and 600 of their families & friends were there to witness this beautiful occasion. With so many people so happily in attendance, it was not hard to get swept away with all of the energy, love and enthusiasm for this loving couple. Lidia & Antonio may be quiet on the outside, but their love speaks volumes. Or maybe just get them a lil’ shot of Mr. Patron and you got yourself a party :) . Either way, I had a blast with them and all of their guests. I found myself not being able to hear by the end of the night (thanks to the amazing Mariachi and band), but I didn’t mind at all because I went home with tons of great photos and memories. Thank you Lidia & Antonio for a wonderful time!

Special thanks to my awesome second shooter for the day, Mr. David Do.

We start off with some getting ready favorites:

Here is a perfect example of why having a second shooter is sooooo worth it. The first photo was taken by me and the second photo was taken at the exact same time from my second shooter’s vantage point. Same moment, two different angles. I know, pretty amazing, right?!

Lidia & Antonio did an incredible job of setting time aside for portraits. I can’t stress enough how important this is on your wedding day.

“you belong with me”

You ever have one of those days when everything just seems too good to be true? I had one of those days with one of my great couples: Jennifer & Charlie. I seriously couldn’t have asked for a better photo shoot: gorgeous couple, gorgeous backdrop and gorgeous light. These two are so incredibly sweet together and after hanging out with them for just a few hours, I have no doubt that they will have a long, happy journey together. I guess it was love at first flirt :) . Jennifer & Charlie will celebrate their lovely union in front of family & friends in October. Sooo more of this happy duo to come!

Beautiful, happy couple:
