“what a wonderful world”

The adventures of Lil’ Kim continues!  On the next leg of our trip, my sister and her hubby went on a (belated) honeymoon to Thailand and Neha and I ventured to Siem Reap, Cambodia to see the amazing temples.  The most famous temple there is Angkor Wat, which was built for the king in the early 12th century as his state temple and capital city. The temple is the epitome of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag, and it is the prime attraction for visitors to Cambodia. Angkor Wat was AMAZING to say the least. The significance in size, history and culture was incredible. I felt like I was in another world – this is a definite must see if you ever go to Southeast Asia.

How else do we travel in Vietnam, but with Vietnam Airlines!

On a very hot day in Siem Reap, armed with our tour guide and lots of bug spray, we headed to a smaller temple first called the Bayon Temple.

I was SO sad. I forgot my favorite Jason Mraz hat (you know the one I wore from my birthday shoot) on the airplane and had to buy this other one for $2 in Cambodia. Sigh…

I don’t know why but I felt like Indiana Jones here.

The next temple we visited was the Ta Prohm temple, which is also where the movie “Tomb Raider” was filmed. The temple is famous for these elaborate trees:

And finally we made our way to the temple of all temples, Angkor Wat! Can I get a “wat up?!” Ok I’ll stop now.

I like to call this “Harold & Kumar Escape from Angkor Wat” 🙂 And WHY must I have the most ridiculous faces in my jumping photos?!

Such intricate and interesting architecture all throughout:

Transportation in Cambodia is commonly done through “tuk tuks” such as this:

If you know me, you know I enjoy drinking a Coke in any language/country :).
