“check on it”

After Paris, we decided to spend a few days in the beautiful city of Prague. Prague has always been on the top of my must visit list and I am so happy we went. The city has such a charm about it. Everything was so picturesque and pretty. I feel so lucky to be able to cross another destination off my list! Now I definitely want to go visit other places in Eastern Europe. Who’s with me?!

“magic”

Last month I traveled with my friend Nancy to one of my favorite cities in the world: PARIS. We were there to visit my other friend and immerse ourselves in everything Parisian, which basically means a whole lotta eating and shopping :) . At the last minute (literally), Nancy’s boyfriend (key word here is boyfriend – these are not engagement photos :) ), Kevin decided to hop on a not so short flight from Los Angeles to Paris so that I could take some nice photos of him and his sweetie in Paris. When Nancy told me at the airport, I immediately turned her and said “he’s a keeper” :) . So Kevin traveled a total of 30 hours to get to spend 36 hours in Paris with Nancy….and ME (I know what a lucky guy :) ). But, I didn’t mind being a third wheel as I find that I usually am on photo shoots. I was especially excited because although this was my second time in such an amazing city, it was my first time getting to do a photo shoot. We ventured around this breathtaking city and managed to get in some lovely pictures despite Kevin being jet lagged (poor guy) and me on an endless search for my pink Louie (that’s another story folks). We actually stayed up all night just to catch sunrise photos of the Eiffel Tower before Kevin had to leave for his flight. I could spend days, prolly even months shooting in Paris – everything is just so romantic there sigh. If you haven’t visited Paris yet, I HIGHLY suggest you go and take me with you of course :) .

“airplanes”

I’ve been dying to post these pics from my recent trip to New Zealand!!!! This was an extra special engagement session for me not only because I got to travel to such a cool destination, but also because I was documenting the trip for a very special friend of mine. I have known Jackie for about 9 years now and through the years, we have lived, laughed, cried and danced together :) . We have shared many life experiences together and I am so happy that she finally found her H.A.L.F. in Corey :) . After Corey proposed, we talked about doing a destination engagement session, but somewhere relatively close. So where did we end up?! Only 6,500 miles from Los Angeles duh. This you-can’t-pass-up-deal surfaced for New Zealand, we trade a few text messages and hours later we booked our tickets for a 4 day trip! Did I mention we booked our tickets only two weeks prior to our departure date?! Yes this was very spontaneous, but ended up being very worthwhile, as you can see from the pics below :) . We flew a total of 26 hours to spend about 72 hours in New Zealand. Even the customs people thought we were crazy. Another talented photographer, Jason Huang of Table 4 Weddings and one of his couples joined in on the spontaneity and the six of us were off to hopefully take some nice photos and more importantly find some sheep!!!!

We stayed in Auckland and spent all of our time in Northern New Zealand. If you ever plan to go to New Zealand, I would suggest going for more than 4 days so you can travel to the Southern region where I hear it is just breathtaking (the Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed there). I have to say though Northern New Zealand did not disappoint. And we were lucky because although it was the start of their winter, it was not that cold (maybe by Los Angeles standards it was) and hardly rained.

Our plan to maximize our 72 hours in New Zealand was to sight-see and do our photo shoots at the same time. The first stop was Brick Bay Winery where I found what I was looking for – SHEEEEEP!!!! I was probably the only one excited. I REALLY wanted to do a pose with the sheep but as we would get closer to them, they would run away. I think it was because I was wearing my boots with the fur, my UGGs :( . I tried to apologize to them but they weren’t having any of it. So enough of my rambling and let me introduce you to the happy couple and some of my favorite sights in New Zealand :) :

On our second day, we spent the morning in Auckland and a beautiful day it was. I just love the light and feel of these next few photographs:

We then ventured to Piha Beach for more coastal scenery. Piha Beach is also known for their black sand. Everything was just stunning!

And just when we were about to wrap up the shoot, the light turned absolutely golden and delicious. The next several photos reminded us of how special it was to be shooting in such a unique place! So breathtaking! I was in photog heaven.

While searching for an engagement dress, Jackie actually found her wedding dress and brought it along to New Zealand (Ok I kinda made her)! But, you are going to have to wait for pics in her wedding dress until after the wedding. Here are some sneak peeks though and if you win if can tell me the designer of this dress from these photos!

“bulletproof”

Hi everyone!!!! I am taking a moment to breathe and blog. I can’t believe almost half the year has already passed and what a year it has been! (On another note, I also can’t believe I am turning 3-0 in 40 days!!! AHHHH!!!!) I am soooo grateful to be soooo busy! Kim Le Photography has grown tremendously in the past year and I must admit, it is quite an art to find the right balance between work and life itself. In fact, I feel like work has become my life and although I really enjoy every minute of it, I know I can’t spend all day in front of my computer and/or behind the camera or can I?! So as Kim Le Photography continues to grow, please be patient with some of the growing pains along the way. I am working on changes to better my business and provide me with the resources to take care of my clients and myself. New and improved things are coming soon and I can’t wait to share all of the news and photos. Thanks for your continuing patience and support!!!!

And did I mention how great of a year it has been?!!! I am so blessed and honored to have my work featured on various web publications. I really LOVE what I do and it makes me happy to share my work with so many people! Here are various Kim Le Photography features in the past few months. Be sure to click on the photos below to view the full blog post. Thank you to all of the amazing blogs and my incredible clients!

“O.M.G.”
Hello friends! It’s about 2am in Los Angeles right now and I just about finished packing for my 7am flight to St. Thomas!!!!! Yes I will be out of the office until May 19, 2010 to shoot a beautiful wedding in the Caribbean!!!! I will happily return any messages upon my return.

So this is pretty much all I need for my trip (plus another suitcase of gear). The camera is kinda important but the lucky Lakers shirt is most important! Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals will be on Monday and I will be sipping on a pina colada while cheering for my Lakers!

And yes I am the biggest Twilight fan to have never read the book. Why read when you can see Edward’s beautiful face on the screen???

“welcome to the (beautiful) jungle”

Last month, one of my lovely couples flew me out to New York City to shoot their engagement session. Yelena + Igor have been living in NYC for the last few years as Yelena is attending medical school in the city. They have lived in LA most of their lives and will get married here in June, but they also wanted some great memories of some of their favorite places in NYC. I LOVE New York so of course I was thrilled to go and ended up making a mini-vacation out of it. (In case you are wondering, I LOVE to travel and will just go about anywhere, so set something up and I’m there!!!) If you want to know what I did in New York, one word pretty much sums it up: EAT. My friends joined me for the latter part of the trip and we literally ate our way through the city. So I would share photos of this, but they aren’t very attractive and I was really too busy eating to take any photos.

Yelena + Igor are so sweet and made me feel right at home in their cute NYC apartment. We mapped out various spots that represented NYC and also their personal styles. I really enjoyed this because it was like having a beautiful couple as my personal tour guides. I have been to NYC various times before, but I swear there’s always something new to see (or eat) when I’m there. Yelena + Igor were nervous at first, but as you can see at first, they are complete naturals in front of the camera. I could have shot them all day!!! I was also sad to leave NYC. I wish I could withstand cold weather and live there. There is so much to eat, I mean to do in NYC.

We started off in the gorgeous Central Park. And as you can see Yelena + Igor started off HOT.

And then we had a lil bird poop incident at the park 5 minutes into the shoot. But don’t worry, Igor’s shirt wasn’t harmed :) . We laughed and kept on going. Why are my shoots always so eventful?! :)

“something beautiful”

Last month, I had the pleasure of capturing a beautiful, intimate wedding in Ojai, CA. Megan + Nick were married at Megan’s grandparents’ charming ranch and every detail was carefully and cutely thought out. I was in love with all of the lavender details that Megan + Nick had picked out. I was even more in love with the amazing backdrop we had at the ranch, complete with orange groves and a treehouse that made you want to just run around and play. Megan + Nick were all smiles (and some tears) that day. I am so blessed to have captured such a beautiful wedding for a beautiful couple. I could go on and on, but I think the beauty speaks for itself.
