“all the right moves”

W-O-W. What a way to start off the new year!!!! Words cannot express how ecstatic I am right now. When Serendipity Magazine contacted a few months ago and told me they wanted to feature Jennifer & Charlie’s Rancho Las Lomas wedding, I was beside myself, but nothing could prepare me for seeing it in print for the first time! Serendipity Magazine is the premier Asian wedding magazine for the Southern California bride. It is a great local resource for wedding ideas, services and products that will be beneficial to brides and grooms. When the Winter 2010 issue arrived yesterday, I felt nervous and excited at the same time. It’s like seeing your baby for the first time, ok not really but you get what I mean. I did my happy dance around the house (no one was home but the doggies) and had the biggest smile, braces and all on my face. I screamed a little and I think I scared the doggies. I opened the magazine to pages 70-71 (bookmark that) and it was like TA-DA!!!! I danced around some more and then like the dorky photographer I am, started taking photos of the photos.

I finally calmed down a little, sat there staring at the magazine and smiled quietly inside. It is truly amazing to do something that means so much to you and be recognized for all your hard work and passion. I am truly so blessed and thankful. I know my dad is smiling down at me right now and dedicate all of my hard work to him and my wonderful mother.

Do you go through Kim Le Photography withdrawals during day???  Do you wonder what I have eaten for lunch or when I make exciting trips to the post office?  Well fear not, there’s a better way to stalk me.  No not the creepy stalker kind, unless you are Edward Cullen of course (TEAM EDWARD all the way!), but the I-love-Kim-Le-Photography-and-I-want-to-get-all-latest-updates kind of way.  Yes, merry 2010 folks.  This is resolution #9 out of 1,009,088.  Please don’t ask me about #1-8 or #10-1,009,088 – they have yet to be resolved.  Anyhow, so here’s how:

(1) Add the fan page for kim le photography on facebook.  Yes I love facebook.  How did we go through life before without it????

(2) Follow me on twitter.  Ok I’m still getting use to twitter.  It still freaks me out every time I log onto my twitter on my iphone and I hear a bunch of birds chirping.  Yes I’m strange and yes I follow NKOTB and the Kogi Truck on twitter. Who doesn’t?!

(3) Subscribe to my RSS feeds for my blog . Ok I don’t know what this really means…but I do know that you will get notified every time I post something new on my blog. And trust me, it’s going to be a lot of new, exciting stuff this year :) . Just click on the lil’ blue box below!

(4) Show up at every NKOTB concert in California, Nevada or the world.  I will be the lil’ Asian girl with braces screaming her lil’ head off….and apparently licking their tour bus.

(5) Sign up for a photo session with me!  This should be New Year’s resolution #1 for all of you out there :) . I mean, what better way to spend some up close & personal time with me?!  I know, you can’t email me fast enough, can you???

Ok maybe not this up close & personal, but lure me with red velvet cake and i.am.so.there. And please try to refrain from calling me Braceface in the email. Thanks.

And places where you will probably not find me: swimming in the ocean (yet!), anywhere above five feet high, a restaurant serving only ribs, a restaurant serving only ketchup, at a Boston Celtics game and the guy’s house who stole my iphone.

“something to talk about”

So I was recently tagged again – this time by Miss Jonilyn – yep I’m popular =P. I don’t mind being tagged – I love talking about myself! j/k! =)

What was I doing 10 years ago?

Wow I can’t believe 10 years ago I was a senior at Tustin High School (shootout to my fellow Tillers! =)). I was so excited to be graduating and attending UCLA in the fall. I thought Los Angeles was such a foreign place and couldn’t wait to be living on my own. Going to UCLA was probably one of the best decisions I ever made and I spent 4 of the best years of my life there…*sigh*… Bruins all the way baby!!!

Things on my to do list:

  • Travel!!! I love to travel and learn about the architecture, history and culture of new places. On my list of places to go next: Vietnam (the motherland and I’ve never been!), Thailand and Australia. Here’s a photo of me and my girl Lauren in Venice during our 2006 Europe backpacking trip. Good times! Can’t wait for our next adventure!

vegas trash the dress

  • Learn how to swim! I know it’s crazy that I don’t know how to swim, considering I’ve been to some pretty tropical places like Greece, Bahamas and Hawaii. I swear I’m going to learn this year! Who’s gonna save me???

  • Try new restaurants with Jonilyn! =)
  • Start working out again! Is it bad that I don’t know where my gym pass is??!

Bad Habits:

  • Drinking soda – my favorite is COKE and most recently Diet Dr. Pepper – at least it’s diet right?? =)
  • Slouching when sitting – not good when you are editing in front of the computer for hours.
  • I’m a good girl – I don’t have any other bad habits ;) , except for maybe not going to the gym (see above) and blogging with too many smiley faces (see all over). =)

Places I have lived:

  • New Orleans, LA
  • Tustin, CA
  • Los Angeles, CA
  • Redondo Beach, CA (presently!)

Things most people don’t know about me:

  • If you know me, you know I have a phobia of ketchup. Yes it’s true and yes it’s weird. I can’t even hold a ketchup bottle. Don’t ask – just don’t come near me with it.

  • I am the youngest of 10 in my family and I like to think the cutest =).
  • I loooove to EAT. I love just about everything except for ketchup (see above). I wake up thinking about what I’m going to eat for lunch and dinner (I don’t wake up early enough for breakfast =)). I’m happiest after a good meal. So the easiest way to my heart is to feed me =).

So now I tag you!!!

“shawty is a 10″

Hi everyone! I have to apologize for being a lil’ behind on blogging – February was extremely busy for me and it only gets busier from here! I was so busy that I didn’t even realize that my blog has reached 10,000 hits! Soooo exciting! I started this lil’ blog 6 months ago and I’m thrilled by all the support I have received. I can’t wait to reach 1,000,000 hits! *Muhahahah* (evil laugh =)) On another note, one of the reasons I’ve been so busy is because I’ve been working on my website which should be up soon! I can’t wait – I bet you can’t either! =)

Please stay tuned for some new entries coming this week!

“something to talk about”

Ok, so I gave that Twitter thing a try and seriously – it was waaayyy to much for me. I still think it’s a neat idea, but just not for me. I’m usually pretty good about updating my blog and checking my emails, but disclosing my antics on an up-to-the-minute basis is a lil’ bit much. Not to mention, my life isn’t quite that eventful on a regular basis. I found myself “twitting” things like “eating breakfast” or “time for tacos!” – it seemed to somehow always relate to food, which is a big part of my life! =) Anyhow, so that cute lil’ brown box is now gone and has been replaced by the uber cute new pink box!!! Oh yeah! It’s called a Cbox which is short for chatbox. I must admit I have been feeling a lil’ neglected in the comment department (*shedding tear*) so I thought I’d add the chatbox to my page to encourage you to leave me messages! It’s pretty easy (and so are leaving comments!!!) so let the chatting begin! =)

“tell me baby”

I often get asked by couples for wedding planning tips and vendor referrals, which I do not mind at all. I’ve experienced quite a few weddings (but not my own! =)) so I have a general understanding of what makes a wedding great and not so great. I must admit I love hearing about the wedding planning from my couples. I think every wedding is so unique to every couple and tells such a vivid story of their relationship. From the number of guests to the colors of the bridesmaids dresses – every detail is a colorful portrayal of the couples themselves. As your wedding photographer, I make it a point to learn more about my clients and the details of their wedding day. I believe being able to relate to your clients means being able to capture images that accurately reflect the essence of your clients. So feel free to divulge every detail (well maybe not every detail – I don’t really need to know what color socks the groom plans to wear! Well maybe I do – I might snap a pic of them!!!) and feel totally free to ask away! As I have told all of my clients: “I am here to help make your wedding day everything you imagined it to be“. I am more than happy to offer any wedding related “advice”. I must however, disclaim that I am no expert =). Part of me has always wanted to be a wedding planner, but I think my demand for utter perfection would drive me and you nuts. Besides if I’m busy coordinating the wedding, who’s going to take all the beautiful pictures??? =)

And if you are a **wedding vendor** – I am always looking to network and would be delighted to meet you!!! I have met some amazing vendors through my experiences thus far (Brigitte Hurney of Save the Date! Event Planning and Christina Wright of Simply Modern Weddings to name a few) and would be delighted to expand my network. As I said, I like to learn more about the details of weddings and what better way than to learn from the experts themselves!!! So if you’re out there, holla back! =)

Another great vendor I met along the way: Flower Allie of Fullerton, CA. They provided gorgeous flowers for my sister’s June 2007 wedding. Here’s a pic of my oh-so-lovely maid-of-honor bouquet that I oh-so-gracefully carried (sort of =)):

“changes”

Congrats!!! You made it here to my fabulous new blog! YAY!!! So okay, it doesn’t look much different (why fix something that ain’t broke?!?), but it is powered by super cool Wordpress. Wordpress is this new advanced blogging tool with all kinds of neat features. I highly recommend anyone and everyone to blog! It’s such a fun way to express yourself and communicate to the rest of this crazy world we live in.

So back to my lovely new blog… I am what you would call a perfectionist so I am always trying to find new ways to improve and build upon everything in my life. For my blog, I added these super easy navigation tabs up top and to the right – keeping with my pink & brown theme of course. And (drum roll please!!!) there’s a contact form on the contact page! How exciting is that?!? Okay maybe not that exciting, but it’s just another way for you to reach me and me to reach you! So feel free to leave me a message or two. OH! I almost forgot the most important part! I have a new blog address – “ta-da!“:

www.kimlephotography.com/blog

Please read aloud – doesn’t it just roll off your tongue?! Okay, maybe it doesn’t but it is a lil’ shorter than my previous address. So please do whatever you need to memorize it: bookmark it, digg it, write it on your forehead or text it to yourself. Whatever you need to keep on visiting it! =) I will redirect from my old blog just so you don’t miss a beat!!!

And in more exciting non-Britney related news, my website will be coming soon!!! It’s in the works and there is light at the end of the tunnel. So please stay tuned!!!

I just realized I ended 90% of the sentences in this post with exclamation points. I guess I am just really excited about my new blog! I hope you are too! =)
